Pictured here (May 8, 2004) is a memorable example of Palm Beach County Rose Society's unique hybrids, the Hanna Gordon Rose.  The rose garden occupies a special section of the County's oldest public garden, Mounts Botanical Garden

 
 
 
 
 

The unusual globes of the Button Bush are made up of many small flowers with exerted antlers.  This shrub, seen at Canaveral National Seashore on May 16, 2004 grows along banks of streams, lakes, and in swamps throughout Florida, and is native to much of the Eastern U.S.

The Passion Flower has an intricate 2 inch wide showy white flower with a curly purple crown on a trailing or climbing vine.  On April 18, 2004 I photographed this unusual flower at Mounts Botanical Garden, 14 acres of tropical and subtropical plants in South Florida.

 
 
 
 
 

These eggplant-colored bean pods were spotted a growing on a shrub at Mounts Botanical Garden, containing a collection of tropical and subtropical plants in a tranquil South Florida setting.

 
 
 
 
 

 The American Orchid Society, opened in 2001 in Delray Beach Florida, features living collection of thousands of rare orchids and bromeliads.  A tropical oasis created in a spectacular greenhouse is home to this example of a phalaenopsis orchid.

 The Hibiscus flower can be single colored in pink, deep rose, yellow to orange or bright red, and there are dozens of varieties. Hibiscus can be grown as a bush or a tree and may be seen in South Florida, Hawaii, subtropics and Asia.  Photographed September 14th, 2002.

 
 
 
 
 

This golden yellow flower is one of many, creating blooms of sunshine.  Petals grow in concentric rings, seen at Mounts Botanical Garden In the Spring of 2004
